Hello Edtech 513 Class,
Welcome to your Class Blog. You may use this blog to post comments, thoughts, questions, or reactions to the course material with your fellow classmates.
Hi everyone: sorry for that last post. Was practicing and didn't realize I couldn't delete. That just proves how much I have to learn this semester. I started a new job this school year. I am now a computer teacher in a middle school. I have been a sixth grade teacher for 21 years prior, and they finally let me graduate. This new job has a steep learning curve, as you can well imagine. I have been trying things with the kids like podcasting and video production. However,I just don't have the skills yet to feel comfortable in this new role. There is so much to offer my new students, but I lack some of the essential background. That is what I hope to get out of this class. I looked at the course assignments and was psyched to get started. I want to create informational videos for my colleague as well. It has been an area of interest for some time, but the time crunch has prevent so much for occurring. Now is the time, and I am looking forward to moving forward in this class. Thanks everyone.
Hi John, It sounds like the assignments in the class will be perfect for you and what you are trying to do with your new students! I hope you enjoy it. ---Diane
Hey Luke. I have three of those Kodak waterproof (middle school kid proof) playsport HD video cameras. They come with Media Impression software. We then work with Windows Movie Maker. It's been fun trying to imerse myself in this with the kids. The see that I am still the crazy Mr. C I have always been but just with a new focus. So we're all having a blast. I hope to put together a video series about our school for incoming students and families. It could be posted to the school website. That's down the road, but not too far. It's been a great year so far...

ReplyDeleteJohn, congrats on the new job! I'm sure it's pretty exciting and at times overwhelming! What software do your students use in video production?
